Dopamine is a kind of neurotransmitter that plays an important role in our reward system. For anything that helps to survive either directly or indirectly, we get a level of dopamine that makes us feel euphoric and pleasurable. Other neurotransmitters are also involved, but dopamine is one of the most important roles. Its obvious limit of pleasure, or lack of motivation makes it difficult and often causes diseases like Parkinson's disease!
